Inkjet and Toner Cartridge Recycling Programme

Orion and WMS, like all responsible organisations, are aware of the need to recognise the importance of protecting the environment by recycling. We intend to work towards a better environment through the business practices we encourage and through the products we offer.

Recycling … why bother?

For all sorts of reasons. Every company in the UK is affected by the Environmental Protection Act 1990. This act requires all organisations to dispose of its waste responsibly and going green enhances your corporate image.

The solution

The Hand It Back Programme has been designed to reduce the waste of valuable raw materials from used printer consumables, be it ink or laser cartridges. All items returned to our recycling centre are sorted and are either used to produce remanufactured products or forwarded to a recycler. Products that have been returned in a re-useable condition can be remanufactured to the same high standards as the original product and go through the product lifecycle again and again.

Where manufacture is not possible (eg goods returned beyond repair), the product will be forwarded to an appropriate recycler, so that all the basic materials can be recovered as either raw materials for further production, eg aluminium, or disposed of with the minimum environmental impact.

How the programme works

WMS will supply you with large collection boxes for toner cartridges free of charge (each able to hold 10 toner cartridges) - call West Mercia Supplies on 01743 237314 to place your order. Prepaid recycling envelopes for inkjet cartridges will automatically be sent out with any order supplied by WMS. These can simply be posted back at any time.

The next time you replace a toner cartridge, keep the packaging of the new consumable and just follow the next three steps – it couldn’t be simpler.

1.	Put the used toner cartridge in to the packaging and reseal.
2.	Place the used and sealed toner cartridge in to the recycling collection box.
3.	Once the collection box is full seal it for safe transit. Ring the helpline to arrange collection. Collections are made within 48 hours, free of charge (Weekly/monthly collections can also be arranged if it is more convenient).
